Face Masks Required in Dugout

16u & 17u Waldo Thunder:

You may have already seen the news about positive Covid-19 test results from two High School student athletes at Shawnee Mission East High School. SME has halted all summer athletic conditioning programs while contact tracing continues. We do not believe there is any significant direct exposure risk to athletes in our Thunder Baseball program but will continue to monitor and ask players to quarantine and miss games/practices if direct exposure has taken place.

In an abundance of safety and to be good community leaders, we are asking that all Thunder Baseball players and coaches wear masks in dugout areas and during team meetings at all upcoming games and practices. The KCMO Health Department continues to advise that outdoor baseball is a safe activity with minimal risk of spread and supported our decision to proceed with masks for players and coaches in the dugout.

Please have your players bring masks to be worn in the dugout for games tomorrow. We will have some extra masks available for players that are unable to provide their own. Along these lines, please ensure that players are bringing plenty of water (perhaps even more than usual) as players sharing water continues to be an area of concern in our dugouts.

We appreciate your diligence as we work through this health crisis as a community.

Thanks & Go Thunder!
