Several people have asked about the timeline for 2016, I thought I would share my personal philosophy.

#EveryTeamDifferent  There is a large spectrum of time when coaches will finalize the youth baseball roster and send the annual "here is the plan for the year" type of email.  Some teams will do this as early as late July / early August and other teams will wait until late Feb / early March.  There is not a right or wrong time.  Most of this is done by volunteer coaches working on their time schedule so any time is the right time.  Earlier allows better planning, better discounts on uniforms, etc.  Later allows more focus with less cycles as deadlines are approaching.

#HowMuchPractice  Again, a large spectrum here.  As many of you know I believe in allowing our youth to compete without single sport dedication.  But I am not blind to the demands of year round opportunities in every sport.  Generally, my rule of thumb is  games over practices, baseball over soccer in the Spring, soccer over baseball in the Fall.  My recommendation to coaches is max 2-3 events per week based on age.  Events including practices and/or games.

#YearlyCycle  What we recommend is once per week workouts from January - March, ramp up to 2-3 events per week in April - July, and ramp back down to once per week in August - October.  No baseball activity in November and December.

That's all for now.
